Foretravel Technical Q&A
Section: Engine

Q: I have a 99 model 270 that starts fine but shuts down after a minute. Starts again and may shut down again or run fine. Always runs on the third time and goes forever. Diesel mech wants to take out the tank and run the fuel line test. He says it is sucking air on start up. Help
A: Air could create the issue you are speaking of. I would check the coolant level in the main radiator tank if the unit has an coolant level sensor, low coolant could cause the same issue.

Q: I have a 1990 OREG with 460 engine and would like to replace it with a diesel engine, what engine and transmission does Foretravel recommend?
A: Foretravel as the manufacture does not modify or alter from the original configuration of the chassis. Therefore Foretravel does not recommend altering the configuration of this coach.

Q: What is the normal operating temperature range for the engine and transmission?
A: The engine will operate at the temperature of the thermostats installed by the engine manufacturer. The transmission will normally operate parallel with engine temperatures, only to exceed this during extended retarder activation or heavy towing applications.
